Major Malaysian blue-chip stocks displayed mixed performance today. Maybank and CIMB saw declines due to profit-taking, while Tenaga Nasional and Petronas Gas remained relatively stable. Investors adjusted positions after the recent rally in banking stocks.

KUALA LUMPUR, February 5, 2026 – Major blue-chip stocks exhibited mixed performance today. Maybank fell 0.5% to RM9.25, while CIMB Group retreated 0.7% to RM6.80, largely due to profit-taking after recent gains. Despite this, Tenaga Nasional remained relatively stable, closing at RM11.50 with a marginal dip of 0.8%. Petronas Gas, however, bucked the trend, rising 0.2% to RM17.88, showcasing its defensive qualities. Analysts noted that banking stocks have seen strong performance over the past few weeks, making some correction healthy. Investors are closely monitoring upcoming corporate earnings reports for further guidance.
